This unique and comprehensive compilation of science performance statistics and science trends data is based on journal article publication counts and citation data from Thomson Scientific databases. It is an ideal analytical resource for policymakers, administrators, analysts and information specialists in government agencies, universities, corporations, private laboratories, publishing companies and foundations, as well as members of the scientific press and recruiters.

You can access more than ten million articles in over 11,000 journal titles from around the world. It is a solid basis for comparison of research performance, includes baselines, which are the benchmarks for assessing research impact. The database offers expert guidance that enhances data, provides editorial comments from scientists and researchers.

ESI is available as a 10-year rolling file, updated every two months. The data are divided into 22 searchable fields of research, which includes the agricultural sciences, biology and biochemistry, clinical medicine, economics and business, engineering, pharmacology, plant and animal science and much more.
